UAE is poised to unveil the latest petrol prices for March later this week. After three consecutive months of reductions in November, December, and January, petrol prices experienced a marginal increase across the nation last month.
Over the past 12 months, prices have been variable, witnessing fluctuations throughout 2023.
In February 2023, E-Plus 91 was priced at AED 2.86 per litre, with diesel set at AED 3.38 per litre. Currently, both are more economical, priced at AED 2.69 per litre and AED 2.99 per litre, respectively. Special 95 and Super 98 are also more affordable compared to a year ago, dropping from AED 2.93 to AED 2.76 per litre and AED 3.05 to AED 2.88 per litre.
As of February 1, the fill-up costs for vehicles in the UAE have been:
- E-Plus: AED 2.69 per litre from AED 2.64 in January
- Special 95: AED 2.76 per litre from AED 2.71 in January
- Super 98: AED 2.88 per litre from AED 2.82 in January
- Diesel: AED 2.99 per litre from AED 3.00 in January
In response to the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, the Fuel Price Committee in the UAE froze petrol prices, preventing any alterations. However, in March 2021, as global oil prices started to rise, controls were lifted to allow market forces to once again determine petrol prices.
Additionally, the fluctuations in petrol prices are influenced by changes in worldwide crude oil prices, according to Arabian Business.
