The UAE is poised to reveal the revised petrol prices for January and the upcoming year.
Over the last two months, both petrol and diesel prices have seen a notable decline nationwide, a result of reductions in fuel costs during November and December.
While prices have experienced fluctuations in the past year, they currently stand lower than the corresponding period last year.
As of December 2022, E-Plus 91 was priced at AED 3.11 per litre, with diesel set at AED 3.74 per litre. Presently, both are considerably cheaper at AED 2.77 per litre and AED 3.19 per litre, respectively. Special 95 and Super 98 also exhibit lower prices compared to December last year.
Since December 1, the cost of refueling vehicles in the UAE has been as follows:
- Special 95: AED 2.85 per litre, reduced from AED 2.92 in November
- Super 98: AED 2.96 per litre, down from AED 3.03 in November
- E-Plus: AED 2.77 per litre, down from AED 2.85 in November
- Diesel: AED 3.19 per litre, down from AED 3.42 in November
In response to the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, the Fuel Price Committee in the UAE froze petrol prices, preventing any changes. However, in March 2021, as global oil prices began to rise, controls were lifted to allow market forces to determine petrol prices once again, according to Arabian Business.
Moreover, the fluctuation in petrol prices is also influenced by the surge in crude oil prices worldwide.
