The UAE’s foreign ministry announced that its electronic systems are once again operating normally.
Earlier in the day, various UAE government entities issued an alert about the ongoing Microsoft IT outage, which has disrupted flights, banks, and media companies globally. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) stated on X that users might face difficulties accessing certain services due to the global IT outage. Additionally, the UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued an “urgent notice” on X.
It stated, “We inform you of a global technical glitch affecting some electronic systems of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including the authentication service. We advise customers not to conduct any transactions until this issue is resolved.” ‘Not a cyber-security attack’
The UAE’s Cyber Security Council issued a notification regarding the global IT outage, according to state news agency WAM. It stated, “There are no indications of hacks or cyber-attacks related to the global technical failure.”
It also warned users against falling victim to scams or hackers during this outage. “We recommend that you exercise caution to avoid falling prey to hackers who may exploit this technical flaw. We urge all members of society to obtain information from official sources and not be swayed by rumours.”
TDRA monitoring the situation
The UAE’s Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) stated in a post on X, “We inform you that there is a technical defect in the CrowdStrike software update that may affect the electronic systems of the institutions that use it.”
It advised Microsoft users to “avoid downloading or updating the CrowdStrike platforms until the issue is resolved.” The statement added that the TDRA is closely monitoring the evolving situation.
