The UAE on Monday unveiled one of the world’s largest ultra-fast electric vehicle charging hubs, marking a major step in the nation’s clean mobility journey.
ADNOC Distribution, the country’s leading mobility and convenience retailer, announced the opening of the world’s sixth-largest superfast EV charging hub and revealed plans to electrify the UAE’s highway network by the end of 2027.
The announcement comes ahead of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, as international leaders gather in the capital to explore the future of sustainable energy and resilient infrastructure.
This development underscores ADNOC Group’s wider commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions by harnessing innovation and intelligence to create long-term positive impact.
Located at Saih Shuaib on the E11 highway between Abu Dhabi and Dubai, the EV Megahub includes 60 high-speed chargers, enabling most electric vehicles to recharge from 0 to 80 per cent in around 20 minutes.
The EV Megahub is the largest superfast charging site in the Middle East, Africa and Turkey, and ranks sixth globally. It forms a central pillar of ADNOC Distribution’s ambitious plan to expand highway EV infrastructure across the UAE.
As part of this roadmap, ADNOC Distribution aims to develop 20 EV charging hubs by the end of 2027, with 15 expected to be operational by the close of 2026, ensuring full coverage across the UAE’s main national highways.
This infrastructure plays a vital role in enabling smooth, long-distance EV travel and supporting the country’s shift towards smarter and more sustainable mobility solutions.
