The UAE has launched the Mohamed bin Zayed Foundation for Humanity, a new philanthropic organization focused on improving lives in underserved communities. The foundation aims to enhance healthcare, strengthen development programs, and invest in long-term sustainable solutions.
Strengthening Global Partnerships
To achieve its mission, the foundation will collaborate with international partners and governments. It will focus on expanding healthcare systems and providing essential medical resources. During a meeting at Qasr Al Shati in Abu Dhabi, President Sheikh Mohamed received a delegation from the foundation. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed, along with other key officials, joined the discussions to outline the foundation’s goals.
In alignment with its commitment to humanitarian efforts, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister, issued the decree establishing the foundation. Notably, its launch coincides with Zayed Humanitarian Day, which is observed annually on Ramadan 19. This special day honors the charitable legacy of the UAE’s Founding Father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
Focus on Healthcare and Disease Prevention
One of the foundation’s main priorities is improving healthcare infrastructure in less developed countries. To make a meaningful impact, it plans to provide medical equipment, strengthen workforces, and support health initiatives. Over the next five years, the initiative aims to reach more than 500 million people across 50 countries in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.
Additionally, the foundation will oversee the Reaching the Last Mile fund, a program dedicated to eliminating polio, malaria, and neglected tropical diseases. This initiative builds on the UAE’s existing efforts to combat global health challenges.
Expanding Humanitarian Impact
Operating under Erth Zayed Philanthropies, the foundation reflects the UAE’s long-term commitment to humanitarian work. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed emphasized that the initiative will drive innovation, form strategic partnerships, and develop sustainable solutions to pressing global issues.
The UAE has a strong record of providing aid to communities in need. Since October 2023, the country has delivered over 65,000 tonnes of humanitarian assistance to Gaza. In addition, it has pledged $200 million in aid to Sudan, supporting those affected by conflict.
Through the Mohamed bin Zayed Foundation for Humanity, the UAE continues to play a crucial role in addressing global challenges. By investing in healthcare, development, and strategic aid, the foundation aims to create a lasting impact on millions of lives.
