The UAE Ministry of Finance has unveiled the ‘UAE Global Cadres’ initiative, a new programme designed to encourage Emirati professionals and students to explore careers in international financial organisations. This includes opportunities for training, secondments, and permanent roles. The programme targets Emiratis both at home and abroad, aiming to expand their presence on the global financial stage.
Long-Term Investment in National Talent
H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance, emphasised that the initiative aligns with the UAE’s long-term vision. He described it as a strategic investment that empowers Emiratis to offer innovative perspectives in global financial institutions.
“This initiative is more than just an opportunity to raise awareness among national talent. It is a long-term investment in empowering Emiratis to contribute to international financial institutions and offer innovative perspectives that showcase the UAE’s excellence across various financial and economic domains,” said Sheikh Maktoum.
He also highlighted that the initiative builds a strong foundation for deeper collaboration with global financial bodies. It aims to enhance the UAE’s role in shaping economic policies and further solidify its position as a reliable and dynamic global financial hub.
Building Bridges to International Leadership
Mohamed bin Hadi Al Hussaini, Minister of State for Financial Affairs, echoed this sentiment. He confirmed that the initiative will help fast-track the development of future Emirati leaders in international finance.
According to Al Hussaini, the initiative will also elevate the Ministry’s reputation and advance the UAE government’s strategic goals. Participants will benefit from a mix of practical experience, high-level training, and access to global best practices. These skills will prepare them to take on leadership positions and represent the UAE effectively on international platforms.
Workshops and Networking for Career Growth
To support this goal, the programme will host a range of workshops and interactive sessions. These events are designed to build global professional networks, support career growth, and give Emiratis hands-on experience. Through these activities, participants will learn how to navigate the international finance landscape while developing leadership potential.
They will also gain exposure to diverse work environments and acquire skills that can be applied to various sectors in the UAE. This global knowledge will support national development and strengthen the UAE’s human capital.
Partnerships with Leading Global Institutions
The “UAE Global Cadres” initiative will be delivered in collaboration with several major international financial institutions. These include the World Bank Group, International Finance Corporation, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, International Fund for Agricultural Development, and the OPEC Fund for International Development.
By working with these institutions, the programme offers Emirati talent access to world-class expertise. It also increases awareness about training paths and career development options available through these organisations.
Ultimately, the initiative supports the UAE’s ambition to be a leading player in the global financial landscape by investing in the talent and potential of its people.
