The UAE participated in the 113th ministerial meeting of the Arab Energy Organisation (AEO) held today in Kuwait, with oil and energy ministers from member states in attendance.
The UAE delegation was led by Sharif Al Olama, Under-Secretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, alongside Saif Ghobash, Assistant Under-Secretary for the Petroleum, Gas, and Mineral Resources Sector at the same ministry.
During the Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries Organisation (OAPEC) meeting, a ministerial decision was made to restructure the organisation, resulting in a name change to the Arab Energy Organisation (AEO).
The meeting covered several important topics, including the draft budget for 2025, and reviewed systems and regulations to ensure alignment with the evolving energy sector. Other discussions also focused on preparing for the future.
Sharif Al Olama noted that the meeting underscored the commitment of AEO member states to enhance cooperation in the energy sector. He highlighted that these meetings serve as an important platform for sharing ideas and addressing both current and future energy challenges, especially in the context of global economic and geopolitical changes. This step strengthens Arab cooperation in the energy sector and sets the stage for future alignment with the region’s vision.
He further emphasised that member states are working in partnership to promote energy innovation and sustainability, ensuring a prosperous future for future generations.
Al Olama also reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to collaborating with other member states and international partners to promote energy sustainability and market balance. He stressed that joint efforts and innovative initiatives are essential to achieving stability, sustainable growth, and enhancing the region’s role in global energy security.
