The Ministry of Finance (MoF) received a distinguished delegation from Indonesia’s Ministry of Finance at its Dubai office to exchange expertise and explore best practices in internal audit expertise.
The visit is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation and promote knowledge-sharing between the two friendly nations in public financial management, in line with the Memorandum of Understanding signed between both sides in July 2024.
During their visit, the Indonesian delegation was briefed on the organisational structure of the Ministry’s Internal Audit Office, its responsibilities, and its objectives, showcasing their internal audit expertise.
The briefing focused on the office’s commitment to providing independent and objective assurance on the ministry’s internal control systems and risk management, alongside advisory activities designed to improve operational efficiency.
Strengthening Partnerships
H.E. Younis Haji AlKhoori, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance, emphasised that the visit by the Indonesian delegation reflects the importance of taking international collaboration and knowledge-sharing between financial institutions to new heights to drive efficiency and maintain high standards of transparency and accountability in public finance.
He stated: “We, at the Ministry, are committed to applying best practices and international standards in internal auditing to support the Ministry’s vision of ensuring sustainable and efficient financial management in line with the country’s strategic objectives.”
AlKhoori added “Exchanging knowledge and expertise with our Indonesian counterparts represents a vital step toward mutual advancement. It lays the groundwork for robust partnerships that will drive the continuous improvement of financial institutions in both nations. We are eager to witness shared successes that elevate internal audit practices and contribute to the long-term sustainability and resilience of our financial systems.”
UEA and Indonesia emphasised the value of the memorandum of understanding between two ministries in advancing public financial management, in which knowledge exchange will be a cornerstone of the strategic partnership. Under this memorandum, both Ministries are dedicated to strengthening collaborative efforts and embracing global best practices to achieve greater transparency and reinforce public financial management systems both countries.
The delegation, led by Riza Faiz Ahmad, Audit Manager of the Inspectorate General Office of the Indonesian Ministry of Finance, included a team of experts specialising in auditing and accounting.
Notably, the Ministry’s Internal Audit Office adheres to the highest international standards as set by the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA). In 2022, the office was recognised with full compliance certification from the UAE Internal Auditors Association, affirming its commitment to excellence.
Additionally, the office operates a robust, integrated internal system to combat fraud and mitigate risks related to administrative corruption. This system is accessible via the Ministry’s digital platforms, including its official website and mobile app.
