The UAE Public Prosecution has issued a warning regarding the unauthorised collection of donations.
In a social media video, the Public Prosecution highlighted Article 46 of Federal Decree-Law No. (34) of 2021 on Combating Rumours and Cybercrimes.
According to the law, individuals who establish, manage, or operate websites or disseminate information online or through any digital means to solicit or advocate for donations without a licence from the relevant authority may face imprisonment or fines.
Under UAE fundraising regulations, fines will range from a minimum of AED 200,000 ($54,400) to a maximum of AED 500,000 ($136,100) or either of these penalties, according to Arabian Business.
