Eleven of the UAE’s leading e-commerce retailers and platforms have teamed up with the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology by signing the Compliance Pledge, a crucial initiative aimed at enhancing the quality and safety of products sold online.
The pledge ensures that products available on these platforms meet the UAE’s strict standards and technical regulations.
By committing to the highest levels of safety and security, these platforms are strengthening consumer trust and providing a safer shopping experience.

Omar Al Suwaidi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, stated: “The Compliance Pledge is a major step towards improving the standard of quality and safety of products sold online and aligns with the objectives of the National Strategy for Industry and Advanced Technology.”
He emphasised the importance of the pledge, calling on all strategic partners to join in the ongoing efforts to improve product safety and quality.
“This initiative demonstrates strong collaboration between the government and private sector in the UAE to enhance consumer safety and product quality,” he added.
The pledge is also expected to boost the growth of the UAE’s e-commerce sector, which, according to the Dubai Chamber of Commerce, saw retail sales rise from $2.6B in 2019 to $4.8B in 2021, with projections to reach $9.2B by 2026.
The ministry encourages both traditional retailers and e-commerce platforms to comply with all relevant laws and technical regulations and conducts monitoring and awareness campaigns in cooperation with regulatory authorities.
