The UAE Aid Agency and the Government of Chad have signed an agreement to establish the Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Hospital and a new dialysis centre in N’Djamena. This initiative was launched under the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and supervised by H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Senior UAE and Chadian officials, including H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, attended the signing.
Dr. Tareq Ahmed Al Ameri, Chairman of the UAE Aid Agency, and Tahir Hamid Nguilin, Chad’s Minister of Finance and Budget, signed the agreement. Chad’s government allocated 11,300 square meters of land for the project. The hospital will occupy 9,500 square meters, while 1,800 square meters will house accommodation for medical staff.
Strengthening Medical Infrastructure
An additional 4,200 square meters will be dedicated to a dialysis centre. This centre will feature modern medical equipment to serve N’Djamena’s residents. Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan emphasised that the project reflects the humanitarian legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. He also highlighted the UAE’s commitment to improving healthcare access for communities across Africa.
According to Sheikh Shakhboot, the hospital aligns with the global healthcare vision set by President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. “This agreement reflects the UAE’s ongoing mission to strengthen healthcare capacity in developing nations and to support the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals,” he said.
Dr. Al Ameri added that the UAE remains dedicated to confronting humanitarian challenges. He confirmed that the UAE Aid Agency would continue to offer critical support for communities working to improve their living conditions.
Serving Over 1.7 Million People
The Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Hospital will include 11 specialised clinics. These clinics will offer services in paediatrics, gynaecology, dentistry, orthopaedics, urology, ophthalmology, ENT, dermatology, internal medicine, cardiology, and general medicine. The facility will also feature 100 beds and three operating rooms to provide comprehensive care.
Tahir Hamid Nguilin expressed his gratitude for the partnership. He stated: “The Government of Chad sincerely thanks the UAE. This new hospital will significantly enhance medical services in our capital.”
The dialysis centre will house 80 beds and aims to serve more than 9% of N’Djamena’s population. Dr. Al Ameri noted that the project adheres to policies set by the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council, which operates under the guidance of H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
This joint initiative marks a major step forward in improving Chad’s healthcare infrastructure while promoting sustainable development across the region.
