The UAE has introduced stringent new regulations for Haj and Umrah pilgrimage operators, mandating prior approval from the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments (GAIAE) before processing any applications or requests. Key points of the new rules include:
- Prior Approval Requirement: All operators must secure approval from the GAIAE before organizing or advertising Haj or Umrah trips. This is to ensure that all operators are compliant with official standards and regulations.
- Donation Restrictions: Operators must not collect or receive donations for pilgrimage purposes without a proper license. This measure aims to prevent unauthorized and potentially fraudulent collection of funds.
- Hefty Fines: Non-compliance with these regulations will result in significant penalties. Individuals, campaign organizers, and offices can face fines of up to Dh50,000 for violations.
- Regulatory Oversight: The GAIAE will oversee the entire process to ensure transparency and legality in the organization and execution of pilgrimage services.
These measures streamline the licensing process, enhance the regulation of pilgrimage activities, and protect the interests of pilgrims by ensuring that all operators adhere to established legal and ethical standards.
