His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, and Bashar Al-Assad, President of the Syrian Arab Republic, held talks on strengthening cooperation and mutual interests between their countries.
They discussed ways to enhance constructive joint work and fraternal relations between their nations. During the meeting at Qasr Al Watan, President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed welcomed the Syrian President and his delegation in his second country.
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed expressed his condolences to Al-Assad and the people of Syria for the victims of the recent earthquake, and he expressed confidence in Syria’s ability to overcome this challenge and achieve stability and prosperity, according to WAM.
Al-Assad updated Sheikh Mohamed on the latest political developments in Syria and the impact of the earthquake. Sheikh Mohamed reaffirmed the UAE’s support and solidarity with Syria and its people during these challenging times.
His Highness added, “Your brothers in the UAE stand with you closely. Syria’s absence has been for too long. It is time for Syria to return to it’s brothers and its place in the Arab world.”
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed highlighted the importance of facilitating the return of Syrian refugees to their country with dignity and expressed the UAE’s support for the dialogue between Syria and Turkey to make progress on this issue. He praised the Syrian community in the UAE for their contribution to the country’s development and emphasized the strong relations between the two peoples.
The Syrian President expressed his gratitude for the UAE’s support and assistance in response to the recent earthquake, noting the positive impact it had on the Syrian people. He also thanked the UAE for welcoming and supporting the Syrian community during various circumstances and praised the UAE’s values and approach to establishing relations with fraternal countries.
The Syrian President expressed his country’s keenness to enhance its relations with the UAE and thanked Sheikh Mohamed for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to him and his delegation. The Syrian President left a message in the VIP guest book expressing his happiness at visiting the UAE and hoping that it would be the start of further development and prosperity in the relations between the two brotherly countries.
