His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, held talks in Abu Dhabi with the Swiss President to advance bilateral relations, placing particular emphasis on economic cooperation, investment opportunities, and advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence.
The meeting took place at Qasr Al Shati, where Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed welcomed Guy Parmelin and congratulated him on his election for 2026, while reaffirming the UAE’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with Switzerland across key sectors.
Discussions centred on shared priorities related to economic growth, investment flows and technological development, alongside the potential of artificial intelligence to address pressing global challenges.
Both leaders highlighted the importance of the Global AI Summit, scheduled to be hosted in Geneva in 2027 and the UAE in 2028, underscoring their joint commitment to leveraging AI in support of sustainable development and shared prosperity.
The talks also covered regional and international developments, with both sides stressing the need to promote peace and stability through dialogue and diplomatic engagement.
During the meeting, a memorandum of understanding was announced to establish a joint economic committee between the UAE Ministry of Foreign Trade and Switzerland’s Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research.
In addition, the two foreign ministries agreed on a letter of intent to cooperate on water security and support the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 6, which aims to ensure universal access to clean water and sanitation.
