The UAE and Kuwait signed a series of bilateral agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs) to enhance cooperation across key sectors such as health, energy, education, and defence, during an official visit by UAE Vice President Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, according to state news agency WAM.
Held at Bayan Palace in the presence of Sheikh Mansour and Kuwait’s Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the signing ceremony reflected the two nations’ commitment to deepening economic and diplomatic collaboration amid shifting regional dynamics.
The agreements cover a broad spectrum of strategic areas, including healthcare, infrastructure, investment, social development, energy transition, and artificial intelligence, aligning with both countries’ goals for joint progress and greater regional integration.
As part of these initiatives, the Kuwait Investment Authority joined the “Artificial Intelligence Infrastructure Partnership” alongside international players MGX, BlackRock, Global Infrastructure Partners, and Microsoft, lending regional support to the global technology-focused initiative.
Separately, Kuwait’s Ministry of Defence finalised a contract with UAE-based EDGE Group for the acquisition of several “Falaj 3” class missile boats, reinforcing the growing defence cooperation between the nations.
Marking the region’s largest-ever naval shipbuilding export and among the highest-value defence deals globally, the agreement appoints EDGE as the main contractor for vessel design, construction, trials, delivery, Integrated Logistics Support (ILS), and In-Service Support (ISS). EDGE will also supply ammunition, showcasing its comprehensive defence manufacturing capabilities. The vessels will be constructed by Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB), the naval division of EDGE and the UAE’s leading shipbuilder.
