H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Foreign Affairs Minister, held a meeting with Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, the External Affairs Minister of India, during the 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA78) in New York.
The discussions revolved around the enduring friendly relations, the comprehensive strategic partnership between the UAE and India, and strategies for advancing cooperation within the framework of their strategic partnership.
Furthermore, the UAE’s Foreign Minister and his Indian counterpart delved into the subject of climate change and bilateral collaboration in this context, particularly considering the UAE’s role as the host of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) this year at Expo City Dubai.
UAE and India Pledge Global Solutions and Cooperation
Sheikh Abdullah underscored the joint commitment of the UAE and India to support international multilateral efforts aimed at finding effective solutions to global challenges and forging fruitful and constructive partnerships that benefit humanity.
He emphasized that the two nations have been bound by a comprehensive strategic partnership since 2017 and a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement since 2022, which have enabled them to achieve significant developmental milestones for their respective populations.
Sheikh Abdullah stressed that COP28 presents a valuable opportunity to spotlight the exceptional ties between the UAE and India and the importance of international cooperation in addressing pressing global challenges, according to WAM.
The meeting was attended by Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs and the UAE’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.
