UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met with His Excellency Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, to review avenues for enhancing bilateral ties in support of joint development goals, within the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership linking the two nations.
The discussions took place during President Aliyev’s official visit to the UAE, which coincided with his attendance at the opening ceremony of Games of the Future Abu Dhabi 2025.
Both leaders reiterated their mutual commitment to expanding cooperation across key sectors, including development, economic activity, investment, food security, renewable energy, sustainability, and other strategic priorities. They highlighted the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement signed in July 2025 as a pivotal milestone, expected to generate tangible gains in bilateral economic relations.
The meeting also included an exchange of perspectives on regional and international developments of shared interest.
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan hosted a luncheon in honour of President Ilham Aliyev during the visit.
The meeting was attended by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court; Lieutenant General His Highness Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior; alongside several Sheikhs and senior officials.
Earlier, President Aliyev was welcomed upon arrival in Abu Dhabi at the Presidential Flight by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
During the reception, His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan underscored the strength and steady progress of UAE–Azerbaijan relations, reflecting the shared determination of both leaderships to deepen cooperation across multiple fronts.
