The UAE has reached a significant milestone in global competitiveness, securing 16th place worldwide in the 2025 Government Support Index, one of the main indicators included in the International Institute for Management Development’s (IMD) World Competitiveness Yearbook.
This achievement marks a notable leap of 27 positions from the country’s 43rd place in 2024.
The Government Support Index evaluates the extent of government support as a share of gross domestic product (GDP).
UAE competitiveness
It provides a benchmark for the effective management of public financial resources and reflects a nation’s capacity to drive economic growth through well-directed public spending.
According to the Ministry of Finance, the UAE’s sharp rise in the index underscores the success of its fiscal policies and its ongoing commitment to enhancing the efficiency of government expenditure.
This advancement has been driven by strong cooperation between federal entities and local financial authorities, alongside the adoption of advanced financial analysis tools and improved resource allocation strategies.
The Ministry also highlighted that continuous progress in financial data quality, sustainability practices, and maintaining fiscal balance forms a cornerstone of the UAE’s long-term vision.
