The ICAI ABU DHABI CHAPTER recently launched the 34th International Annual Seminar with an opening ceremony that included CA Rohit Dayma Secretary lighting the lamp followed by the national anthems of UAE, India, and ICAI. Chairman John George addressed the attendees, introducing the theme of the seminar, while CA Aniket Talati, Vice Chairman of ICAI, expressed appreciation for the committee’s hard work and discussed the ongoing changes taking place within the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.
The Lulu Group’s Chairman and Managing Director, Mr. Yusuf Ali, delivered an inspiring keynote address at the event, expressing his appreciation for the invaluable contributions made by Chartered Accountants to Abu Dhabi. Additionally, Dr. Debashis Mitra, the President of ICAI, delivered a speech at the event, highlighting the accomplishments of the Abu Dhabi Chapter and discussing the crucial role played by CAs in the successful implementation of GST.
During the event, Swamiji highlighted the significance of maintaining human values, honing skills, and pursuing aspirations. Additionally, Dr. Azad discussed the ongoing transformation of healthcare, while Sanjay Sudhir elaborated on the strong relationship between India and UAE. Aman Gupta shared his personal journey as a CA and his experiences as an entrepreneur, and M K Anand provided insights on the growth of India and its impact on globalization. A panel discussion also took place, featuring experts Robin Singh and James Franklin discussing cricket and BharatPe, and Sunil exploring the acquisition of a bank license and strategies for investment.
On the second day, the Abu Dhabi Chartered Accountant Conference featured an impressive line-up of speakers and notable figures such as H.E. Sheikh Nahyan Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, H.E Younis Haji Al Khoori, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance, Shraddha Sharma, Founder of Your Story Media, Shalini Saraswathi, Inspirational Speaker and Indian Blade Runner, Neelkantha Bhanu, Founder of Bhanzu and Faster Human Calculator, among others.
The conference also featured a riveting panel discussion on the role of the CFO, moderated by Padmanabha Acharya, Deloitte Audit Partner. The panel was comprised of Alwyn Crasta, Group CFO of an International Holding Company, Mr Marcos de Quadros, Group CFO of ADQ, and CA Hari Mohan, Group CFO Burjeel Holding.
H.E. Sheikh Nahyan Mubarak Al Nahyan delivered a compelling keynote address that emphasized the significance of tolerance and coexistence in building a thriving and harmonious society. On the other hand, H.E Younis Haji Al Khoori shared his extensive knowledge on the future of finance and how technology is transforming the industry, inspiring attendees to embrace innovation and stay ahead of the curve.
Shraddha Sharma, Founder of Your Story Media, provided valuable insights into the power of storytelling in business and how to effectively communicate a brand’s message, while Shalini Saraswathi, a world-renowned motivational speaker, captivated the audience with her inspiring journey as an Indian Blade Runner and her teachings on perseverance, determination, and following one’s passions. Neelkantha Bhanu, Founder of Bhanzu and Faster Human Calculator, amazed the audience with his incredible mental calculations and demonstrated the power of the mind.
During the panel discussion, the topic of the CFO’s role was explored in depth, which led to a stimulating and insightful session that examined the difficulties and possibilities that CFOs face in today’s fast-paced business landscape. The panellists, Alwyn Crasta, Mr Marcos de Quadros, and CA Hari Mohan, shared their valuable viewpoints and experiences on the changing position of the CFO, as well as the techniques and competencies required to thrive in this role.
