TAMM, representing the Department of Government Enablement – Abu Dhabi (DGE), has forged a collaboration with AI71, the newly established artificial intelligence (AI) company under the Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC).
This partnership grants TAMM, the unified platform for government services in Abu Dhabi, exclusive access to the advanced Falcon series of large language models (LLMs), proudly developed in the UAE.
As per the agreement, TAMM emerged as the inaugural entity in the UAE to integrate Falcon LLMs, marking a significant advancement in operational efficiency. In this initial phase, AI71 will enable the deployment of multilingual Falcon LLMs, versatile foundational models adaptable to specific requirements, enhancing TAMM’s conversational capabilities. This collaboration harnesses the potential of AI to humanise the digital interactions within TAMM services.
Falcon LLMs Enhance TAMM’s Interaction Quality and Service Efficiency
The Falcon LLMs will empower TAMM to deliver superior interaction quality, offering users precise, pertinent, and contextually fitting responses to their inquiries. With Falcon, TAMM aims to streamline user queries, ensuring efficient and prompt responses, and thereby elevating overall user satisfaction. Additionally, Falcon’s functionalities extend to serving as a data-driven insight generator, assisting TAMM in refining its services based on user interactions and feedback.
Dr. Mohamed Al Askar, Representative of the Abu Dhabi government services unified platform – TAMM – at DGE, said, “The adoption of the intuitive Falcon LLMs will enhance the TAMM customer experience in alignment with our aim of offering true customer-centricity in enabled government services. TAMM is a visionary digital ecosystem, redefining government service delivery and setting new standards of excellence. Our adoption of the UAE-made Falcon technology reflects our commitment to innovation and digital leadership in our pursuit of digital transformation in the UAE.”
The Technology Innovation Institute (TII), the applied research pillar of ATRC and a prominent global scientific research centre in the UAE has unveiled the Falcon 180B, regarded as one of the world’s most potent open AI models, building on the success of the Falcon 40B.
Trained on 180 billion parameters and 3.5 trillion tokens, with four times the compute resources of Meta’s LLaMA 2, the Falcon 180B represents an advanced iteration of the Falcon 40B. Released under the Apache 2.0 license for both research and commercial use, Falcon 180B is open-source, royalty-free, and comes with weights.
AI71 Extends Falcon AI Models with Multi-Domain Specializations
The newly introduced AI71 is an extension of the Falcon generative AI models, focusing on multi-domain specializations and providing exceptional AI data governance options for organizations and governments aiming to self-host for enhanced privacy.
Shahab Issa Abu Shahab, Director-General of Advanced Technology Research Council, remarked, “With the launch of AI71, powered by the potent Falcon series of AI models, the UAE is now capable of competing and collaborating with leading technology nations in generative AI capabilities.”
Earlier this year, two state-of-the-art Falcon models, 40B and 180B, achieved global top-ranking status on the Leaderboard for Open AI models by Hugging Face, a US-based verifier of AI models. Falcon 40B also stands as the UAE’s initial generative artificial intelligence (genAI) large language model, deployable for innovative applications and use cases.
Positioned as open-source genAI models, Falcon LLMs aim to democratize AI and foster greater inclusivity in technology, according to WAM.
Both parties see this agreement and the development of locally generated genAI models as a testament to Abu Dhabi’s rapid advancements in AI leadership, propelling digital transformation in the capital and solidifying its standing as a global digital leader.
