Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai is set to experience a temporary closure over the weekend as COP28 on climate change commences in the city.
The carriageway heading towards Abu Dhabi will be inaccessible between the Trade Centre Roundabout and the Expo Intersection from 7 am to 11 am, spanning December 1 to 3.
This forms part of the traffic diversions implemented by the emirate’s Roads and Transport Authority and aligns with National Day celebrations.
Traffic Diverted: Alternative Routes Mapped for Sheikh Zayed Road Closure in Dubai
The strategy includes redirecting traffic through alternative routes such as Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Road, Emirates Road, Al Khail Road, Jumeirah Road, Al Wasl Road, and Al Khail Road.
The Dubai Media Office reported that the RTA recommends the use of public transportation for daily commutes, according to The National News.
Motorists are also advised to observe directional signage and stay updated on smart screens for information on temporary traffic diversions and alternative routes. This plan has been developed in collaboration with Dubai Police.
