The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre in Abu Dhabi received 4,379,258 worshippers and visitors in the first half of this year, a 31 per cent increase compared to the same period last year.
This number included 1,765,698 worshippers and fasting individuals, and 2,584,425 visitors. The jogging track had 29,135 users.
On the 27th of Ramadan, 1445 AH (April 5), the mosque had its highest number of worshippers in history, with 87,186 attending, including 70,680 observing the 27th night of Ramadan.
As part of the “Our Fasting Guests” project, the center prepared 2,150,000 iftar meals, serving 650,001 within the mosque and distributing 1.5 million to labour camps in Abu Dhabi.
The centre solidified its global cultural tourism position, with 81 per cent of visitors from outside the UAE and 19 per cent residents. Asia topped the list at 52 per cent, followed by Europe at 34 per cent, North America at 7 per cent, and Africa, South America, and Australia at 3 per cent, 3 per cent, and 1 per cent, respectively.
India led with 22 per cent of visitors, followed by China at 11 per cent, Russia at 8 per cent, and Germany and the USA at 4 per cent each. The second day of Eid Al-Fitr saw the highest number of visitors, with 32,722.
Cultural tour specialists conducted 2,958 tours for 41,957 visitors worldwide. The mosque hosted 170 high-level delegations, including three heads of state, one vice president, four prime ministers, two parliamentary speakers, and 35 ministers.
The “El-Delleel” service offers 24-hour virtual cultural tours in 14 languages. “Souq Al-Jami’” provides over 50 commercial units, including restaurants and shops.
