The UAE Cabinet, chaired by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has approved a Dh7 million award for federal government employees and teams who contribute to reducing bureaucracy. The initiative aims to recognize innovative efforts to simplify government procedures, save financial resources, and lessen regulatory burdens on individuals and businesses.
Sheikh Mohammed shared the announcement on X, stating, “We will honour work teams, individuals, and federal entities that submit projects to shorten government procedures, provide financial resources, and reduce regulatory burdens on companies and individuals.”
He further emphasized the importance of celebrating those who facilitate transactions, reduce procedural steps, and enhance government services, adding, “We will thank the creative people and celebrate the hard-working and dedicated government employees who serve the people day and night to provide resources, serve the public, and consolidate the country’s competitiveness.”
Dh300 Million Youth Fund and Entrepreneurship Council
In addition to the award initiative, the Cabinet has launched a Dh300 million fund to support youth-led projects, fostering innovation and encouraging entrepreneurship. The newly established Emirates Entrepreneurship Council, led by Alia Al Mazrouei, will oversee efforts to inspire the youth to explore entrepreneurial opportunities in the UAE’s dynamic economy.
Sheikh Mohammed expressed his vision for empowering the younger generation, stating, “Our country is blessed, its goodness is widespread and great, and its economic movement benefits everyone. We want our youth to understand the foundations of excellence, exploit the great opportunities it provides, and lead this movement to greater and broader horizons.”
Preserving Architectural Heritage
The Cabinet also approved a national policy for preserving the UAE’s modern architectural heritage, highlighting its cultural and historical importance. Currently, 130 sites and buildings have been designated under this initiative, with plans to expand the list to include 1,000 sites in the future.
This policy underscores the UAE’s commitment to maintaining its architectural identity while balancing modern development and historic preservation.
Other Key Decisions
The meeting also included the approval of a governance system for the Education, Human Development and Community Council, led by Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed and Deputy Sheikha Mariam bint Mohammed bin Zayed. The council will include seven members and oversee committees for higher education, private education, and the social sector.
The session, held at Qasr Al Watan, marked the final Cabinet meeting of 2024. Reflecting on the year, Sheikh Mohammed stated, “A good year for the best people… A good year led by the best president… A good year with the efforts of the best and largest dedicated national team… And what is coming is better, more beautiful and greater, God willing, in 2025.”
