The UAE leadership has confirmed the appointment of two new Ministers of State, further strengthening the government’s executive team. The announcement was made by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, acting on the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The newly appointed officials are:
- Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, Minister of State
- Saeed Mubarak Rashed Al Hajeri, Minister of State
Leadership Announcement
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid highlighted that the appointments came following consultations with the UAE President. He said: “We announce today the appointment of Lana Nusseibeh and Saeed Al Hajeri as Ministers of State in the UAE Government. We wish them every success in carrying out their responsibilities and extend our appreciation to all our national teams across the country for their dedication and service.”
Lana Nusseibeh’s Diplomatic Career
Lana Zaki Nusseibeh has had a distinguished career in diplomacy. She most recently served as Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs and was the UAE’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations from 2013 until 2024.
Her contributions to multilateral diplomacy include co-chairing the Intergovernmental Negotiations on Security Council Reform between 2017 and 2019, where she played a key role in advancing UN institutional reforms. She has also held prominent leadership positions such as Chair of the UN Women Executive Board in 2017, Vice President of the UN General Assembly, and Co-Chair of the Ad Hoc Working Group on the Revitalisation of the General Assembly. Since 2015, she has co-chaired the Friends of the Future of the UN Group alongside the United Kingdom.
Saeed Al Hajeri’s Economic Expertise
Saeed Mubarak Rashed Al Hajeri brings extensive experience in finance, economics, and international relations. He currently serves as Chairman of the Emirates Medicines Foundation and previously held the role of Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Economic and Trade Affairs.
A graduate of Lewis & Clark College in the United States with a degree in Business Administration, Al Hajeri is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and an alumnus of Harvard Business School’s Advanced Executive Education Programme.
His career includes senior leadership positions at the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA), where he served as Executive Director, and as Chairman of the CFA Institute. He has also chaired Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank and Salama Islamic Arab Insurance Company, while holding board positions at Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA) and the Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination.
Recognised in 2007 by the World Economic Forum as one of its “Top 250 Young Global Leaders,” Al Hajeri has contributed to several national investment committees and currently represents the UAE as Sherpa to the BRICS Group.
