His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has ordered a rise in monthly cash support for 6,317 Emirati men and women in the emirate, increasing their payments to Dh17,500 each month.
The adjustment affects elderly citizens, widows, divorcees and low‑income households with at least two family members, and is expected to cost about Dh524 million per year. The enhanced allowances will be implemented starting January 2026.
Maryam Majid Al Shamsi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Social Services Department, explained that the increase follows Dr. Sheikh Sultan’s directives to bolster social welfare and raise the standard of living for those who qualify.
She noted that the updated allowance payments will begin in January 2026 and will assist thousands of families throughout the emirate.
