The Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2023 provided a platform for the emirate of Sharjah to exhibit its innovative approach to the tourism industry, showcasing its vision for the future of tourism both locally and globally. Managed by the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA), the Sharjah pavilion at the event was a collaboration of 20 government and private entities.
The pavilion featured advanced technologies and pioneering concepts, providing a captivating preview of Sharjah’s tourist destinations and a variety of tourism experiences. The booth drew the attention of visitors, including representatives from travel companies, agencies, ministries, hospitality, and entertainment investors, all intrigued by the imaginative presentation, according to WAM.
One of the main attractions of Sharjah’s participation at ATM 2023 was the “Shj AI Guide – Robot,” which utilized interactive technology to provide information, pictures, and promotional videos of events, activities, and tourist attractions in the emirate. The robot was capable of communicating through both voice and touchscreen commands, and could respond in both Arabic and English. This innovative feature offered visitors an engaging and immersive experience that allowed them to explore the unique offerings of the region.
Another noteworthy exhibit at the Sharjah pavilion was the promotion of the “Sharjah World Championship Week” through the Sharjah Formula 1 high-speed team boats. This event is considered one of the most exciting and prestigious water sports events in the emirate and the region. The Sharjah International Marine Sports Club also featured a kayak simulator that enabled visitors to experience water sports virtually and discover Sharjah’s diverse water and sea destinations.
The Sharjah Old Cars Club showcased a classic Jaguar car and presented an exhibit at which visitors could use 360° Augmented Reality technology to explore the Sharjah Classic Cars Museum. Alongside this, the pavilion showcased “Sharjahverse”, a metaverse city that spans 2,590 square kilometres and includes all of Sharjah, as well as the “Sharjah Museums Experience” that enables visitors to explore the 16 museums located in the emirate. In addition, the Environment and Protected Areas Authority (EPAA) offered a fun virtual experience of Sharjah Safari adventures inside a safari car at the pavilion.
