H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi supports libraries with new works showcased at SIBF 2024.
Sharjah’s libraries are set to receive a major boost as H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, announced the allocation of AED 4.5 million. This initiative aims to enhance the collections of public and government libraries by acquiring the latest works featured at the 43rd Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF 2024), which hosts over 2,500 publishers and exhibitors.
This annual grant reaffirms the Ruler of Sharjah’s commitment to advancing the literary sector, broadening access to diverse knowledge sources for readers, students, and researchers throughout Sharjah and the UAE. By updating library collections with contemporary publications, the initiative plays a pivotal role in fostering a knowledge-driven society and contributing to Sharjah’s cultural renaissance.
Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Book Authority, highlighted the transformative impact of libraries, noting that this effort supports the publishing sector by bringing fresh knowledge and ideas into public spaces. She emphasized that libraries shape society’s future through access to diverse voices and global thought.
The grant strengthens Sharjah’s libraries with thousands of new titles, enhancing the emirate’s status as a global hub for knowledge, supporting research, and enriching the literary scene both locally and internationally.
