The Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD) has launched a new “Instant Licence” service to make business setup faster and easier. Investors can now start operations immediately without needing a Memorandum of Association or a signed lease contract during the first year.
Businesses Can Start Within a Day
Approved by the Sharjah Executive Council, the service enables companies to obtain a licence in just one working day. It applies to office-based activities that do not require approvals from other authorities. Each licence allows for up to three employees.
The initiative reduces paperwork, speeds up the process, and removes early-stage barriers for new investors. After the first year, businesses will need to meet all standard licensing requirements.
By making setup simpler, SEDD hopes to encourage more businesses to launch in Sharjah. This effort is part of a broader plan to improve the emirate’s economic competitiveness.
Boosting Investment and Diversification
Hamad Ali Abdalla Al Mahmoud, Chairman of SEDD, said the department is committed to improving the legislative environment for business. This commitment supports the goals set by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Chairman of the Executive Council.
He added that the Instant Licence fits into SEDD’s wider strategy to promote diversification and sustainable growth. It is also designed to help new investors and economic establishments expand into specific sectors.
This service gives businesses fast access to Sharjah’s market. At the same time, it helps them take advantage of the emirate’s strategic benefits. SEDD wants to ensure that companies operate in a flexible, responsive, and supportive environment.
Moreover, the initiative reflects Sharjah’s aim to strengthen its global investment appeal. It also shows a commitment to delivering efficient, high-quality services that meet international standards.
