The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) has announced robust growth during the first half of 2025, with total memberships—new and renewed—surpassing 37,000. This marks a 12 percent increase over the same period in 2024, when the Chamber recorded 33,000 memberships.
Trade Value and Certificates of Origin Rise
SCCI reported that the combined value of exports and re-exports from its member companies reached approximately AED11 billion in H1 2025. This significant figure underscores Sharjah’s growing prominence as a key trade hub in the Gulf region.
Additionally, the Chamber issued 41,294 certificates of origin in the same period—reflecting a 6 percent rise year-on-year. This increase highlights SCCI’s role in boosting trade facilitation and strengthening the emirate’s export ecosystem.
Saudi Arabia emerged as the top importer of Sharjah-origin goods, with trade exceeding AED5.9 billion. Oman followed with over AED1.6 billion, and Iraq with AED1.5 billion. Other key export destinations included Qatar, the UK, Egypt, Ethiopia, Kuwait, and India.
Strategic Vision Drives Growth
Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of SCCI, attributed the surge in memberships and trade activity to Sharjah’s competitive business environment and strong investor confidence.
“The emirate continues to attract business owners and investors due to its robust infrastructure, favourable regulations, and diverse economic incentives,” said Al Owais.
Mohammed Ahmed Amin Al Awadi, Director-General of SCCI, emphasised the Chamber’s successful implementation of its 2025–2027 strategic plan. This roadmap focuses on enhancing economic empowerment, entrepreneurship, private sector competitiveness, and creating an enabling environment for sustainable investment.
Expanding Global Reach
To support international business cooperation, the Chamber organised two official trade missions to India and Mauritius in H1 2025. These missions featured high-level meetings with government officials, investors, and entrepreneurs aimed at expanding market access and fostering cross-border partnerships.
SCCI also hosted a series of strategic events, exhibitions, and dialogues with sectoral business groups and diplomatic delegations to further integrate Sharjah into global trade networks.
Conclusion
Through steady growth in membership, increased trade activity, and active international engagement, SCCI continues to strengthen Sharjah’s status as a major business destination in the region. The Chamber’s performance in the first half of 2025 reflects its ongoing commitment to economic diversification and sustainable development.
