Saudi Arabia plans to enhance and upgrade its airports and airlines, aiming to establish itself as a significant transport and logistics hub, according to the President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), Abdulaziz Al Duailej.
Al Duailej stated that the Saudi Aviation Strategy aligns with the economic development goals of the Kingdom, presenting promising opportunities for global investors. The strategy is based on the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, with the aim of positioning the Kingdom as a leading regional hub and a global logistics platform connecting three continents.
Saudi Airports: 330M Passengers, $100B Plan Unveiled at Wings India 2024
The ambitious vision includes Saudi airports targeting 330 million air passengers by 2030, attracting $100B in investments. Al Duailej shared this plan during a ministerial session at the Wings India 2024 exhibition conference, emphasising the crucial role of civil aviation in supporting economic growth and sustainable development in Saudi Arabia.
He highlighted the comprehensive Saudi Aviation Strategy, designed to upgrade airports, airlines, aircraft, facilities, shipping, and logistics services. The strategy aims to expand the Kingdom’s air connectivity to over 250 destinations globally through 29 airports, with the establishment of two global connectivity centres in Riyadh and Jeddah.
Al Duailej emphasised the Kingdom’s focus on sustainable and integrated growth, with a goal of increasing air freight capacity from 0.8 million tons to 4.5 million tons by 2030. This initiative aims to attract global air carriers, logistics service providers, and multinational companies to the Kingdom, according to Arabian Business.
Recognizing the potential in the Indian civil aviation market, Al Duailej expressed Saudi Arabia’s interest in strengthening ties by increasing air links between India and the Kingdom. He invited participants in the Wings India 2024 exhibition to attend the Future of Aviation Conference in Riyadh from May 20 to 22, 2024, underscoring the Kingdom’s commitment to collaboration for a prosperous and sustainable civil aviation sector.
