According to a report by SPA news agency, Saudi Arabia’s ICT market reached $4B (SAR 154B) last year, making it the MENA region’s largest and fastest-growing digital economy.
Mohammed Al-Tamimi, Governor of the Communications, Space, and Technology Commission (CST), revealed that the country has invested more than $25B (SAR 93B) in digital infrastructure over the past six years, leading to a significant improvement in the quality of services, such as doubling mobile internet speeds to 181 Mbps, making the Kingdom one of the top 10 countries for mobile internet speed.
The CST has also launched high-speed internet service in 21,000 villages and immigration areas in various regions of the Kingdom, according to Arabian Business.

Mohammed Al-Tamimi, Governor of the CST, stated that Saudi Arabia’s investment in digital infrastructure exceeded $25B (SAR 93B) in the last six years.
This investment led to significant improvements in the quality of services, such as doubling mobile internet speeds to 181 Mbps, 11 times the previous speed, and double the global average.
Additionally, 5G coverage in the Kingdom has increased to 53%, while in Riyadh, it has exceeded 94%, and fibre optics coverage has reached 3.7m Saudi homes.
Saudi Arabia has the highest internet usage and IT skills in the world, according to the Global Knowledge Index (GKI) 2022, ranking first in two categories, including “percentage of the population using the internet” and “percentage of individuals with standard information and communications technology (ICT) skills.”
