Saudi Arabia’s Air Connectivity Program has partnered with Italy’s ITA Airways to establish new routes connecting Rome with Riyadh and Jeddah.
Commencing in May 2024 for Riyadh and August 2024 for Jeddah, ITA Airways’ Airbus A321neo, the largest in the Airbus A320 family, will operate these routes.
Flights from Rome to Riyadh will operate weekly from May 5, departing on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays, with additional Wednesday departures from June 2024.
Saudi flights to Rome
Starting on August 1, Rome to Jeddah flights will depart every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
This collaboration signifies Saudi Arabia’s commitment to improving air connectivity with Europe, with ITA Airways targeting the Middle East for strategic growth.
These new Saudi flights to Rome will provide access to ITA Airways’ extensive network of 51 destinations.
ITA Airways anticipates the Riyadh to Rome route catering to business travellers, while the Jeddah-Rome route will foster tourism and religious travel exchange between Saudi Arabia and Italy.
CEO of ACP Majid Khan stated, “We are pleased that ITA Airways, Italy’s flag carrier, will initiate direct flights from Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO) to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.”
These Rome connections aim to facilitate travel for tourists and business travellers from ITA Airways’ network in Europe, South America, and the USA to the Kingdom.
This collaboration reflects the beginning of a promising partnership between ITA Airways and ACP, with expectations of further growth.
Aligned with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 economic diversification program, the Kingdom aspires to be a leading aviation hub, connecting East and West.
In 2023, the Kingdom achieved a record of 100 million tourists, including 27 million foreign tourists, according to Arabian Business.
