Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has successfully finished the second and final phase of the Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Corridor Improvement Project. This project covers a distance of 8 kilometres along Ras Al Khor Road, starting from Dubai-Al Ain Road and extending up to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road.
As part of the project, the RTA has completed the construction of four bridges, spanning a total of 2 kilometres.
The project id designed in two stages. The initial phase involved expanding Ras Al Khor Road from three to four lanes in each direction and constructing a two-lane service road on both sides. This aimed to enhance traffic safety and flow by eliminating existing areas of congestion and increasing the road’s capacity, ultimately reducing travel time.
The first stage also encompassed the construction of two primary bridges. The first bridge, spanning 740 meters and consisting of three lanes, facilitates traffic from Dubai-Al Ain Road and Al Khail Road towards Dubai Creek Harbour in an eastward direction.
The second stage comprises a two-lane bridge with slopes spanning 990 meters. It serves traffic traveling from Dubai Creek Harbour to Ras Al Khor – Hatta Road.
The second and final phase involved the construction of a 988-meter-long two-lane bridge with a dedicated left-turn lane for traffic originating from Nadd Al Hamar Road heading towards Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Road, according to Gulf Business.
The RTA recently implemented improvements and solutions on Al Seba Street towards the intersection of Sheikh Zayed Road and Garn Al Sabkha Street. These enhancements included the construction of a two-lane bridge measuring 115 meters to facilitate traffic from Nadd Al Hamar Road to Ras Al Khor Road, specifically in the direction of Dubai-Al Ain Road. Additionally, a two-lane underpass spanning 368 meters is contructed to enable right-turn movements for traffic coming from Ras Al Khor Road towards Nadd Al Hamar. These developments align with the RTA’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure, traffic flow, and the safety of road users in Dubai.
The enhancements on Al Seba Street included the addition of an extra exit at the Dubai Marina section, heading towards the Garn Al Sabkha Street intersection. This new exit has the capacity to accommodate 1,500 vehicles per hour.
