This year, Riyadh has advanced by five positions in the International Institute for Management Development Smart City Index, now standing at 25th place overall.
The index evaluates various aspects such as healthcare, transportation, and governance, as outlined in the released report.
Regarding healthcare and safety, the report asserts that adequate sanitation has reached even the most underprivileged areas. Furthermore, with the implementation of CCTV surveillance, public safety has significantly improved, according to Gulf News.
In addition to Riyadh’s progress, Al-Khobar has officially cemented its status as a smart city by securing the 99th position out of 142 municipalities. Al-Khobar now joins Medina, Mecca, and Jeddah in their efforts to adopt innovative strategies.
Participation in the smart city index opens up more avenues for investment, while also positioning the city as an attractive destination for foreign investments that drive economic and sustainable development – a key objective of the Saudi Vision 2030 initiative.
