Qatar has introduced a new digital service that allows taxpayers to directly apply tax treaty benefits, helping reduce withholding tax burdens and speed up cross-border payments.
The initiative enables businesses and investors to access relief under double taxation agreements more efficiently, cutting down administrative delays and simplifying compliance processes. Since withholding tax in Qatar is typically levied at around 5% on payments to non-residents, treaty provisions can significantly lower or eliminate this cost when applicable.
By streamlining approvals and reducing paperwork, the service is expected to improve cash flow for companies operating internationally, while reinforcing Qatar’s appeal as a business-friendly and investment-focused economy.
