The UAE, through the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, achieved significant progress in 2024 across energy, infrastructure, housing, and transportation sectors, reflecting its commitment to sustainable development and societal well-being, driven by innovation and technology.
Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, highlighted that these accomplishments stem from a strategic vision balancing urban development with environmental preservation. He emphasised the importance of global cooperation in transitioning to clean energy, with the UAE enhancing joint investments to solidify its role as a clean energy hub.
In the energy sector, Al Mazrouei noted the UAE’s continued advancement towards its clean energy goals, aiming to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and increase renewable energy contributions. The country plans to invest AED 500B over 30 years to achieve climate neutrality, with current renewable energy production at 6 GW and nuclear energy at 5.6 GW.
In infrastructure, the UAE now owns almost 3,000 federal buildings, including healthcare, educational, and government facilities. Between 2018 and 2023, investments totalled AED 11.8B for various projects, including AED 6.62B for government buildings and AED 5.18B for roads and waterways.
The Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme, since its launch in 1999, has issued over 90,000 housing support decisions, totalling nearly AED 60B. Recently, nearly 13,000 decisions were made, reducing a significant backlog.
The UAE’s maritime sector also flourished, with the country hosting the World Maritime Day Parallel Event in 2025. Additionally, the UAE launched the Blue Pass Multimodal digital platform and engaged actively in the International Maritime Organisation to enhance global maritime efficiency.
The Ministry also advanced the Bureaucracy Zero Programme, simplifying 21 services, cutting 745,000 procedures, and reducing service time by 75%, leading to a 91% increase in customer satisfaction.
