In a step forward for the UAE’s digital economy, the Ministry of Economy has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ADNOC to enhance the integration of data and statistics through the National Economic Register, also known as the ‘Growth’ platform. The agreement was formalised during the first edition of Abu Dhabi Business Week at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), held from December 4 to 6.
The MoU was signed by Abdulaziz Al Nuaimi, Assistant Undersecretary for Entrepreneurship and the Economic Affairs Regulatory Sector at the Ministry of Economy, and Dr. Saleh Al Hashimi, Director of ADNOC’s Commercial and In-Country Value (ICV) Directorate.
Speaking at the event, Al Nuaimi stated that this partnership reflects the Ministry’s dedication to advancing digital integration and aligns with the We the UAE 2031 vision. “Through this partnership, we will work to improve the quality of data and develop innovative mechanisms to analyze and harness it effectively, which will enhance the efficiency of operations and consolidate our commitment to the highest global standards in this regard. Our efforts also underline the importance of coordination and cooperation between the government and private sectors,” he said.
The collaboration seeks to strengthen digital connectivity between the Ministry of Economy and ADNOC. It includes creating a mutual framework for data exchange, integrating databases, and fostering knowledge-sharing to enhance the skills and capabilities of their teams.
The National Economic Register, launched in October 2024, serves as the UAE’s largest unified database for commercial licenses, providing detailed information on over 2,000 economic activities across the seven emirates. The ‘Growth’ platform links 46 government entities through the Unified Economic Number (ERN), streamlining procedures for businesses and enabling seamless electronic transactions.
Dr. Saleh Al Hashimi highlighted the importance of this MoU in enhancing operational efficiency and supporting the UAE’s economic competitiveness. By leveraging data as a strategic asset, the partnership aims to advance sustainable development and improve the nation’s digital infrastructure.
The agreement also aims to promote knowledge exchange and implement best practices in digital connectivity, further solidifying the UAE’s position as a global leader in economic innovation.
