MBC Group, the largest media company in the MENA region, will release seven super-rare NFTs of The Fananees TV series and will auction them on OpenSea, the largest NFT marketplace on Ethereum.
The legendary rarity release comprises individual Fananees with properties of the highest rarity of 0.01 percent depending on attributes.
According to Fadel Zahreddine, Group Director of Emerging Media at MBC GROUP, the NFT collection provides an opportunity for its users to be part of their shared success. It is also when the media company aims to have a significant presence in the digital intellectual property (IP) scene.
“Through the recent explosion of NFT technology, MBC group sees a future where future-proofed technologies not only lead the way but become part of our daily lives. With the launch of the highly popular Fananees NFT series, this will become a reality – We’re excited to see what comes next, not just for the MENA, but globally, on the NFT stage.”
Celebrating Ramadan
The first batch of the collection was purposefully released at the beginning of Ramadan, with the rest set for distribution in subsequent seasons. Historically, The Fananees episodes on MBC Group outlets garner the most views during the holy month.
The timely release of Fananees NFT will ride on this wave. At the same time, it will be an opportunity for users to acquire NFTs ahead of their merger into MBC Group’s current games.
Registered gamers and NFT holders would change their avatars to their Fananees NFTs. Furthermore, holders would be receiving extra offline benefits such as access to red-carpet events, the first viewing of new shows, and more.
For this reason, ANCORE Strategy’s Founder and Managing Partner, Pavel Jakovlev, believes that the launch of Fananees NFT is monumental for the MENA.
“It is exciting to drive the NFTs strategy for MBC Group. The Fananees TV Series is already popular in MENA, garnering millions of views during Ramadan. The launch of the Fananees Genesis Collectibles is monumental for NFTs in the region, especially as we explore how Fananees will be integrated with gaming and possibly, even more, use cases in the metaverse.”
The age of NFTs benefits adopting global companies
The Fananees (NFT) Genesis Collection is timely. It will serve the growing NFT community in MENA and across the globe, allowing fans to own The Fananees TV characters as digital collectibles with digital provenance.
Unlike ordinary fungible tokens like Bitcoin, an NFT cannot be interchanged. All NFT transactions are transparent and thus can be traced, enabling immediate provenance.
NFTs are projected to inevitably command billions in 2022 and in years to come, finding applications in media and entertainment. Integrating companies, like MBC Group, Hani Ghorayeb, the CEO of AFTERMEDIA, says, can use the technology to boost engagement and increase views.
“NFTs will inevitably shape the media and content industries in the coming years. We are at the forefront, creating the environment for technology companies to join hands with global brands such as MBC Group to heighten the level of viewers’ engagement. The Fananees NFT collection is a showcase which best serves the interests of MBC Group and its global viewers’ base.”
In two weeks, it is rumored that the MBC Group will also announce a high-profile partner, making this topic to keep your eyes on this month.
