Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company PJSC (Masdar), the UAE’s leading clean energy firm, has partnered with TotalEnergies and EPointZero, the decarbonisation division of 2PointZero, to enhance clean energy access in emerging markets across Africa and Asia. The three entities formalised this collaboration through a Framework for Action (FFA) agreement, aiming to support energy transition efforts in these regions.
Under this agreement, Masdar and TotalEnergies will work together to provide reliable and sustainable electricity in Africa, contributing to the region’s long-term energy transformation. They will also explore new clean energy opportunities in Southeast Asia. Additionally, TotalEnergies and EPointZero will collaborate to advance India’s clean energy initiatives, including solar, wind, and energy storage, to accelerate the country’s decarbonisation efforts.
The FFA signing took place in Paris on 16 February during the third plenary meeting of the UAE-France High-Level Business Council. Dr Sultan Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and Masdar’s Chairman, Patrick Pouyanné, Chairman and CEO of TotalEnergies, and Mariam Almheiri, Group CEO of 2PointZero, witnessed the agreement. Masdar CEO Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, TotalEnergies President for Gas, Renewables and Power Stéphane Michel, and IHC’s Chief Strategy and Growth Officer Peter Abraam signed it.
Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi emphasised that the partnership, backed by the UAE-France bilateral relationship, demonstrates a shared commitment to empowering local communities, fostering economic growth, and advancing global energy transition. Stéphane Michel highlighted TotalEnergies’ long-standing presence in Abu Dhabi’s oil and gas sector and expressed enthusiasm for expanding into renewables with Masdar and EPointZero. Mariam Almheiri reinforced the importance of the collaboration in scaling up clean energy across India, Africa, and Asia.
The UAE-France High-Level Business Council, established in 2023, plays a key role in driving innovation and sustainability efforts. Both nations continue to strengthen their Comprehensive Strategic Energy Partnership and the UAE-France Bilateral Climate Investment Platform, reinforcing their commitment to a low-carbon future.
