Kuwait has warned of potential significant power shortages due to soaring summer temperatures impacting the country’s electricity supply.
Scheduled power cuts may occur if necessary, announced the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy on Thursday.
These power interruptions in Kuwait are expected to last from 11am to 5pm, lasting one to two hours each time. The ministry will provide specific timings for each area via its social media channels an hour in advance, according to a ministry statement.
Parts of Kuwait experienced power outages on Wednesday amidst intense summer heat, with emergency teams working to restore electricity to affected regions.
The ministry attributed these power disruptions to extreme temperatures reaching 52 degrees Celsius.
It has urged the public to reduce electricity consumption during peak hours to ensure uninterrupted supply.
