The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) has reminded UAE residents to renew their residency and Emirates ID through the correct channels and in a timely manner.
The ICP, which allows customers to renew their residency and ID cards in a unified electronic format, stated that the ID registration form now includes several unique features.
The updated ID card registration form also includes the name of the company responsible for delivering the ID card, a response code for the customer’s voice platform, and another for the fingerprint procedure date.
ICP highlighted that three categories of people are exempt from late fees related to the Emirates ID card.
The three exempt categories are:
- Individuals who have left the country for more than three months.
- Individuals whose ID card expired after they left the country.
- Individuals whose ID card expired following deportation by an administrative order or judicial ruling, or whose passport has been seized pending cases, provided this is evidenced by a letter or receipt from the relevant authorities, and individuals who have not been issued an ID card before obtaining UAE nationality and a family record.
ICP noted that residents can apply for the residence permit and ID card through the authority’s website or the UAEICP smart application. The process involves registering and creating an account with the digital identity, selecting the residence permit and ID card issuance service, submitting the application, reviewing and updating the retrieved data, paying the fees, and receiving the ID card through approved delivery companies.
ICP advised customers to verify the validity of the ID number and expiry date in the renewal or replacement request, and to check the accuracy of the data entered in the electronic form before paying the fees to avoid delays in processing. It also urged customers to verify the validity of their phone number and email data, as well as the delivery method included in the electronic form, noting that the entered data is subject to review and audit by the authority.
