The World Government Summit 2023 witnessed the meeting of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, with Nick Clegg, the President of Global Affairs at Meta.
During their discussions, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan expressed Dubai’s desire to establish stronger partnerships with major global technology companies such as Meta, in line with the leadership’s goal of positioning Dubai as a pioneer in shaping the world’s digital landscape. Additionally, Sheikh Hamdan stated that Dubai aims to become a global hub for technology and digital industry talent and is keen on enhancing cooperation with the industry’s leading companies.
Hid Highness further said that partnerships with international technology players are particularly vital in the context of the objective of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, recently launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to accelerate investments in advanced technology and develop a large pool of talent to consolidate Dubai’s global competitiveness, innovation, and knowledge-based economy.
According to Sheikh Hamdan, strong partnerships between Dubai and companies like Meta are crucial in achieving D33’s goal of generating AED 100B annually through digital transformation, as well as the Dubai Metaverse Strategy’s objective to make Dubai one of the world’s top 10 metaverse economies by 2030.
He also emphasized that Dubai offers a favorable environment for established technology companies, emerging players, and entrepreneurial ventures to incubate innovative ideas and leverage new growth opportunities in the rapidly evolving digital economy. The meeting was attended by H.E. Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, as well as the Managing Director of the World Government Summit Organization.
