Gulf Contracting & Landscaping (GCL), a subsidiary of Al Khayyat Investments (AKI), has launched one of the largest horticulture nurseries in the UAE. The new facility in Al Rahba, Abu Dhabi, spans 1.25 million sqft, and hosts over a million plants suited to the local climate.
Growth and Development
Since its establishment in 2007, GCL has expanded significantly by acquiring adjacent nurseries in Abu Dhabi and developing sites in other emirates. The current nurseries house more than 300 plant varieties, including shrubs, trees, and ground cover, used in GCL’s landscaping projects and external developments.
Future Plans
GCL is also planning further expansion across the UAE and GCC, with a new facility scheduled for completion in 2025, which will cover over 1.5 million sqft.
This expansion aligns with the UAE’s rapid transformation of outdoor spaces and commitment to green development, reflected in initiatives like the Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 2033 and the Abu Dhabi 2030 Urban Structure Framework Plan. These plans aim to enhance the quality of life by developing numerous parks and improving urban spaces.
CEO’s Vision
“At GCL, we are committed to playing an integral role in making the UAE greener in line with the leadership’s vision for enhancing quality of life,” said Rami Hamad, CEO of GCL. “Moreover, we see great potential to provide local, sustainable solutions for such projects, using the latest engineering technologies to maximize efficiencies and preserve natural ecosystems.”
Comprehensive Landscaping Services
GCL offers comprehensive expertise in site preparation, landscaping, infrastructure, civil works, aquatic works, design, and fit-out. Their capabilities allow the creation of everything from manicured greens to intricately designed public and private spaces, including parks, streetscapes, residential areas, golf courses, sports fields, and cycling and jogging tracks.
