Dubai Metro services experienced significant disruptions due to unprecedented rainfall on Tuesday, leading to nearly 200 commuters being stranded at various stations across the UAE.
For those intending to use the Metro today, careful journey planning is advised. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has scheduled maintenance work for Wednesday, April 17, affecting operations and timings on both the Red and Green lines.
Red Line:
Limited services are available at select Red Line stations, including Centrepoint to Business Bay, Jabal Ali to Expo 2020, Centrepoint to GGICO, and BurJuman to Business Bay. The RTA has restored operations at Emirates Towers, Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall, Financial Centre, and Business Bay stations, with efforts underway to gradually reopen additional stations. Complimentary shuttle services are provided for affected stations.
Green Line:
Partial operations are available at Green Line stations, spanning from Etisalat to Abu Hail and Creek to Al Ras. Similar to the Red Line, shuttle services are available for affected stations.
Amid heavy rainfall, commuters expressed frustration over the lack of clarity regarding service resumption and the closure of essential facilities like stores and toilets.
