Golf Saudi has partnered with US-based Topgolf Callaway Brands Corp. to establish new golf facilities in Saudi Arabia, aiming to boost the country’s sports infrastructure and increase local interest in golf.
As the commercial arm of the Saudi golf federation, Golf Saudi plans to develop three Topgolf venues by 2028, with the possibility of two additional sites in the future.
Topgolf will also introduce family brands such as Callaway, Travis Mathew, Odyssey, and Ogio to the kingdom.
Under a multiyear agreement, Callaway Golf, Odyssey, TravisMathew, and Ogio will be the official equipment and apparel suppliers for the Saudi Men’s, Women’s, and Junior National teams, as well as elite and professional golfers within Golf Saudi facilities.
Additionally, Golf Saudi will act as the exclusive distributor of Callaway, Odyssey, and Ogio products in the country.
Ben Sharpe, managing director of Callaway Golf EMEA, expressed enthusiasm about entering the Saudi market, highlighting the partnership with Golf Saudi to introduce their modern golf brands and contribute to Saudi Arabia’s golfing transformation.
The kingdom’s broader sports strategy is part of its post-oil future, with its Public Investment Fund merging its LIV Golf interests with the PGA Tour and DP World Tour. Despite delays, a final agreement remains pending.
Saudi Arabia has made significant strides in global sports, launching its first Esports World Cup last year and securing a deal to host the Olympic Esports Games in 2025. Additionally, it formally submitted its bid for the 2034 FIFA World Cup and is in talks to reshape boxing’s competitive structure.
