The Federal Tax Authority has launched the Labaih Initiative to provide senior citizens with tailored access to tax services, enabling them to complete tax-related applications, requests, and compliance obligations smoothly, efficiently, and accurately, while ensuring full respect for privacy. The initiative also supports senior citizens in exercising their tax rights through simplified and customised service pathways.
Services under the initiative are delivered through the FTA’s Call Centre and Taxpayer Support Centres, which already support taxable persons in meeting their obligations and completing tax-related requests in a collaborative environment that promotes voluntary compliance. The authority said the initiative introduces specialised processes designed to address the specific needs and expectations of senior citizens.
Enhancing service efficiency and quality of life
The FTA stated that the Labaih Initiative aligns with its strategy to strengthen corporate social responsibility and contribute to enhancing the quality of life within the community. It forms part of broader efforts to enhance the efficiency of service delivery while ensuring accessibility and clarity for senior citizens.
Khalid Ali Al Bustani, Director-General of the FTA, stated that the initiative reflects the directives of the UAE leadership to provide the highest levels of care and support for senior citizens, recognizing their role as a valued pillar of society and their contributions to national development. He added that the initiative aims to reduce the effort required to complete tax procedures by offering clear, fast, and privacy-focused service mechanisms.
Dedicated support and simplified procedures
According to the FTA, the initiative provides a dedicated and simplified service journey for senior citizens who may face challenges in accurately completing tax procedures. It includes specialised support, guidance, and facilitation to enhance comfort and improve the overall service experience.
Key features include a Direct Line service, where a specialised team responds to queries from senior citizens and follows up on requests using simple and efficient procedures. The initiative also offers priority access through the Call Centre and a Fast-Track service at Taxpayer Support Centres to accelerate the processing of applications and transactions.
Digital access and awareness programmes
The authority said the initiative includes electronic access to documents, allowing senior citizens to view records directly through the FTA’s website without visiting support centres. Additionally, the FTA will deliver tailored awareness activities, including workshops and introductory sessions, designed to meet the needs of senior citizens.
These programs aim to enhance tax awareness and enable senior citizens to understand and apply tax legislation, procedures, and services with confidence and accuracy. The FTA stated that the Labaih Initiative supports its long-term commitment to creating a tax environment that respects privacy and contributes to the well-being of senior citizens, in line with the UAE’s future vision for social care.
