Flydubai has entered into a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Airbus to acquire 150 A321neo aircraft, representing the airline’s first collaboration with the European plane maker.
The deal marks flydubai’s debut as an Airbus customer and reinforces its broader strategy to diversify its fleet over the long term.
The MoU was officially signed on the second day of the Dubai Airshow 2025. The agreement was concluded by Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of flydubai, and Christian Scherer, CEO Commercial Aircraft at Airbus, in the presence of flydubai Chief Executive Officer Ghaith Al Ghaith.
Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum commented: “This new agreement is more than an expansion of our fleet. It reflects the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, and is aligned with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33.
“The A321neos will help drive the next stage of our network growth and support rising demand across our markets. We look forward to building a strong and enduring partnership with Airbus.”
Christian Scherer, CEO Commercial Aircraft at Airbus, added: “We are pleased to welcome flydubai, one of the region’s most dynamic and fast-growing airlines, as a new Airbus customer. Its decision to introduce the A321neo underscores the advantages Airbus provides in range, efficiency, and passenger experience.”
The A321neo, part of the A320neo Family, features advanced technologies such as new-generation engines, Sharklets, and improved cabin systems.
