The number of women investing in real estate in Dubai increased dramatically in 2022, with a total of 26,698 female investors recording 33,419 transactions totaling more than AED 58.8B during the previous year. This reflects an increase in volume and value of 53% and 50.7%, respectively, from 2021.
In 2022, there were more women investors than there were in 2021, according to data from the Dubai Land Department (DLD). According to WAM, the increased participation of women in the real estate market in Dubai reflects the leadership’s goal of empowering women to participate in a variety of societal and professional arenas.
In addition, Dubai’s solid regulatory environment, which provides strong protection for investments, the emirate’s robust economy, which is resilient to regional and global changes, and its first-rate infrastructure, have all influenced women to invest in the local economy. Women investors have increased due to the industry’s capacity to support growth and offer some of the finest returns on real estate investments globally.
Women are expected to play a crucial role in achieving the goal of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, which was recently announced by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The goal is to double the size of the emirate’s economy by 2033. This will be made possible by the rising participation of women across economic sectors and the growing culture of gender balance in organizations throughout the emirate.
With annual transactions establishing new records, Dubai’s real estate industry ended another spectacular year and demonstrated its importance to the D33 goals of the city’s economic agenda. Annual real estate transactions in the emirate crossed the AED 500B milestone for the first time with 122,658 real estate transactions in 2022, valued at AED 528B.
Women had more than just financial roles in the real estate industry; they made contributions to the industry as builders, brokers, and employees. According to DLD data, women made up 34.8% of registered real estate brokers. A total of 8,606 transactions totaling AED 696M were facilitated by 4,519 women brokers. Women make up 42% of the entire workforce at the Land Department, and they are crucial to fulfilling the mission of the organization at all levels and in all fields.
