The Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi is set to host the final race of the 2024 FIM World Supercross Championship season, announced SX Global, the championship’s official promoters.
Abu Dhabi welcomed WSX for the first time last season, drawing global crowds to witness a thrilling event that featured Roczen, Joey Savatgy, Dean Wilson, and Vince Friese competing intensely.
This year’s event will take place just four days before the Formula One Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, expected to attract an even larger international audience.
In addition to confirming Abu Dhabi as this season’s climax, FIM WSX has unveiled its full provisional schedule for the upcoming year.
The season will kick off on October 26 at BC Place stadium in Vancouver, Canada, followed by a double-header event at HBF Park in Perth, Australia, on November 23-24 for the WSX Australian Grand Prix.
The series will then culminate in Abu Dhabi, where a World Champion will be crowned on December 4.
Andy Edwards, SX Global Executive Chairman, commented, “Following last year’s successful event, we are thrilled to return to Abu Dhabi and the Etihad Arena in 2024. This time, the spectacular venue will host the decisive round of the championship, promising fans thrilling action until the final lap.”
Ali Al Beshr, Motorsport Development Executive Director at Ethara, expressed excitement about the return of the World Supercross Championship Abu Dhabi Grand Prix to Yas Island for the second consecutive year. He highlighted the opportunity for motorsport fans to enjoy back-to-back thrilling action during Race Week of the Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, experiencing two World Championship finals in one week.
