Etihad Airways has significantly expanded its codeshare partnership network, now collaborating with more than 40 airlines worldwide. The move further positions Abu Dhabi as a major global aviation hub, offering passengers enhanced access to over 100 destinations via Etihad’s own services and more than 300 through its airline partners.
This strategic expansion reinforces Abu Dhabi’s reputation as one of the most accessible cities globally, boosting both inbound tourism and international connectivity. The partnerships span key markets including China, North America, Africa, and Europe, enabling seamless travel options for both business and leisure travellers.
New Airline Alliances Strengthen Global Reach
Among the newest additions to Etihad’s network are major carriers such as Ethiopian Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, and Air Europa. Etihad has also formalised codeshare agreements with Air Seychelles, India’s Akasa Air, Portugal’s TAP Air Portugal, and Greece’s Sky Express. These partnerships mark a continued effort to strengthen Abu Dhabi’s links with global regions through enhanced air connectivity.
Arik De, Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer at Etihad Airways, stated:
“Etihad is proud to be at the heart of Abu Dhabi’s growing global footprint. Every partnership we build strengthens the connectivity, choice, and experience for our guests, while positioning Abu Dhabi as a key world destination. Through our strategic partnerships, we have brought major international airlines such as Ethiopian Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, Air Seychelles, Air Europa and Akasa Air to Abu Dhabi.”
Driving Tourism, Business, and Innovation
De highlighted the role of these alliances in not only connecting travellers to vital global markets but also in supporting the broader economic and tourism ambitions of Abu Dhabi.
“These partnerships are not only expanding access to critical markets such as China, North America, Africa and Europe, they are also contributing directly to the growth of Abu Dhabi’s tourism, affirming the city’s role as a hub for innovation, tourism and global business,” he added.
Loyalty Integration and Global Benefits
Etihad also leads in loyalty integration, now partnering with 25 airlines through its loyalty programme—more than any non-allied carrier globally. The network enables frequent flyers to earn and redeem miles across a vast array of destinations, offering enhanced value, flexibility, and convenience.
With these expanded partnerships, Etihad Airways continues to solidify its position as a connector of continents while supporting Abu Dhabi’s rise as a premier international travel and tourism destination.
